How To Plan For A Roller Skate Trip?
Step-by-step on planning for a skate trip:
Skate trips happen all year round and at different scales.
Soul Skate Detroit is in May, but no tickets yet, and I KNOW a few UK skaters are going.
Skate Love Barcelona (September ‘24) released the first wave of tickets and it was like Beyonce Coachella all over again.
-The Frustration is real, But even without a ticket I’d still go to Barcelona- Tickets sold out in literally 1 minute…
So, How early is too early?
Well, event organisers start planning the second they have the idea, and I think we should follow suit.
The moment you have decided you want to attend an event, you should start doing your research at LEAST.
Last-minute planning will get you last-minute prices and accommodation, and I would rather be stress-free and comfortable…
When do you start?
As soon as you know it’s happening.
You don’t need to know exact dates, plans can be rough drafts.
To-do pt.1
Check bank account
Make a plan to save for the trip
Look at how you’ll get there and the costs
See who else is considering
See if there’s anything else in the area you’d want to do
See! You don’t need to wait until the dates and tickets are out.
** Flights and accommodations could be cheaper when booked in advance, and many accommodations have free cancellation up to a specific date and time.
Once you know the dates.
This is when I start booking
To-do pt.2
Book time off work
See who else is going and possibly wants to share accoms/travel costs
Book flights
Book accommodation
Then the event tickets are released
So of course;
To-do pt.3
Book event tickets
Double check everything
It’s so much less stressful if you break everything up, instead of trying to do it all at once.
Skate Love Barcelona is in 9 months, but I’ve still
Found and booked a hotel, +Free Cancellation
Started saving (since last year tbh)
Missed out on the first wave of tix, but have the money ready!
Planning accommodation with friends
That means I can split the costs/savings over 9 months and not worry about the bank taking whole chunks and leaving me with scraps.

Disclaimer: I know some of you won't book flights and accommodations until you’ve secured the event ticket, and that’s fine. Do it that way then, this is just my preferred order, but being flexible allows for a better holiday.
